Clearing Out the Clutter
By Keena Lykins
It starts small--a neatly stacked pile of unopened mail and receipts. You let it go. You’ll get to them later. Before long, it begins to spread, bringing all the mail-order catalogs, newspaper inserts, broken bits of things and children’s projects under its domain. Soon it covers the countertop, overflows into the foyer and creeps up the stairs. It goes by many names: junk, stuff, things... but it is mostly known as the dreadful clutter.
Cara McLauchlan, life coach with M & A Coaching in Holly Springs, N.C. said the best way to declutter your home is to start small. "Set the timer for fifteen minutes and clean out a drawer or one little pocket of clutter that bugs you the most. The next day, move on" suggested McLauchlan, who as a life coach helps her clients realize how they really want to spend their time and energy.
